is it time to try dry needling?

Dry needling is often an indicated treatment, but most often we find patients open up to the idea when other treatments they have tried have not helped. And most of the time dry needling does the trick! By increasing blood flow and creating micro trauma to deep tissue structures, we can stimulate a healing environment and get you on your way to recovery!

What Can I Gain From Dry Needling

There is a large variety of musculoskeletal issues that can be treated with dry needling. Common diagnoses we treat with dry needling include muscle strains, post operative scars, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, tendonopathies, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, jumpers knee, muscle spasms, patellar tendonitis, achilles tendonitis, low back pain, neck pain, mid back pain, rotator cuff strain and so much more.

When paired with our traditional exercise-based physical therapy treatments and advanced manual therapy techniques, we have found that the vast majority of our patients achieved the pain-free goals they were aiming towards. We specialize in treating sports injuries and helping athletes get back in the game.

After conducting a comprehensive evaluation to assess the nature of your condition, our Miami and Broward physical therapists will let you know if this is the best course of treatment for you.

We have used dry needling to treat several diverse conditions, from chronic pain sufferers, to athletes experiencing delayed onset muscle soreness.

So, What Does Dry Needling Do?

This treatment method is used by our licensed Miami & Davie physical therapists as a way to relieve pain.

When performing the treatment, our physical therapist will insert a small sterile needle through the skin, into the underlying tendons, ligaments, or muscles that have been affected, in order to relieve pain, decrease muscle tension, improve mobility and stimulate healing. Typically we will leave the needles in place for 10-15 minutes with electrical stimulation through the needles, to penetrate deep into the muscle bellies, tendons or even joint spaces.

While it is a common misconception, dry needling is not acupuncture although it does use the same needle. While there are some similarities, dry needling is strictly based on Western medicine principles and research.

Dry needling provides an environment that enhances the body’s ability to heal, ultimately reducing pain in the process.

If you are looking for a place that takes your recovery and care seriously but also knows how to have some fun as you work, this is the place for you. I cannot say enough positive things about this staff and facility.

Athletix/Alkeme has been a perfect fit for my teenager. She started with them before surgery and has continued after surgery to ensure a strong and complete recovery. Upon her first visit, Cam talked her through what the visit would entail and helped work around scheduling issues. Logan evaluated her thoroughly and worked with my daughter to set goals and expectations. Post surgery, she's spent a lot of time with each therapist. Dez, Bryan, Greg, and Logan all have worked with her to set goals and expectations for recovery and adapt to whatever each visit brings. She continues to flourish in her recovery because of the hard work and dedication that this staff has commited to my child.

I recommend their office frequently and will continue to sing their praises! Keep it up! And a million thank yous.

Much praise for the Alkeme Davie team!

Every member of the team I worked with were extremely hardworking professionals that displayed the utmost care and respect to each patient I witnessed them working with. However there are a few stand out members on this team.

Cameron is always personable and in a great mood. She easily handles conflicting schedules, issues, and has the most team spirit.

Bryan and Logan are hands down the best Physical Therapist I have ever worked with. I have been seen other facilities four times for this issue and not a one can hold a candle to the team in Davie. Every session they asked how I was doing and tailored the exercises accordingly. These two gentlemen easily have the best TKE (telekinetic knee extensions) and Stanky legs work in the business!

They are experts in their field and anyone I know that has issues I will be recommending them to go here.
