FAQ

What do you do for sports injuries?

Physical therapy has been proven to be successful in treating both acute and chronic sports injuries, such as ligament sprains, muscle strains, plantar fasciitis, bursitis, tendinitis, and more. Your physical therapist will teach you about what your body is experiencing and the recovery process it will go through. Our team of physical therapists will work together to help you reach your physical goals, allowing you to be engaged and active in your rehabilitation. Physical therapy offers so much more than current symptom relief - it offers sports injury prevention and natural performance enhancement. If you are an athlete suffering from a sports-related injury, don’t waste any more time on the sidelines. Take your recovery to the next level with our highly skilled physical therapy team. While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, your physical therapist will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels. The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

What is Sports Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy for athletic purposes helps with overcoming injuries, refocusing strengths, and developing healthy habits. Physical therapists are also trained to help you bounce back from your injury, with just as much strength (if not more!) than you had before the injury.

Can I go to any Physical Therapy I choose?

As a patient you have the right to receive physical therapy at any place you choose. At Alkemē Sports RX, you will receive the highest quality care while achieving the results you deserve. We pride ourselves on providing a positive, encouraging environment with highly skilled and friendly staff. We are confident in our ability to help you reach your goals and live a pain-free life.

Our clinicians will treat you as an individual and your experience will be as unique as you are! You will always receive personalized attention and we guarantee that you will never feel like “just another patient” in a patient-mill. We will not only serve you but also empower you to continue your therapy independently by providing you with an education on the foundations of rehabilitation. Our team will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the root cause of your impairment.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Do you help with low back and hip pain?

Yes, our licensed Physical Therapists can help alleviate symptoms of low back pain and restore function. Mobility, flexibility, strength, and stability are important in both the low back and hips, they have to work both together and independently from one another to achieve proper body mechanics with static and dynamic activity! Hip pain can be associated with repetitive squatting, running, or jumping with insufficient glute or quadricep strength and motor control. Treatment goals are to alleviate tight tissues pulling on the spine and pelvis, as well as restoration of normal body mechanics with corrective exercise. Progressively overloading these movements will help strengthen the hips and spine to return to activities of daily living without pain.

What should I wear?

Please wear Athletic clothing and sneakers. Shorts are preferred so we can work on lower extremities.

Do you help with neck pain?

Yes, physical therapy has proven successful in relieving long-term symptoms in patients experiencing both acute and chronic neck pain. Manual, or “hands-on” treatments consist of special techniques designed to reduce the stiffness in the neck and improve range of motion. Targeted exercises focus on the root of the pain, to strengthen, build, and improve the muscles and tissues in the neck. Treatments will focus on improving posture to aid in the recovery of the neck muscles, as well as avoiding re-injury in the future. Additional treatment services may also be included as your physical therapist deems fit, based on the nature of your condition.

How many sessions will I need?

Each patient’s diagnosis is different, so together with your referring physician, your therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you. Your plan of care and number of visits will be determined during your first visit and explained to you by your physical therapist.

What if I don't have insurance?

For patients who do not have insurance, we offer self-pay rates, due at the time of service.

What type of Payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, debit card, credit card, and HSA. We are happy to discuss payment plan options as well. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of service. Your insurance benefits will be determined before your second visit, and you will be informed of what, if any, payment is necessary on that date.

Are your physical therapists licensed?

Yes, our entire clinical team goes through rigorous training and education to receive their licensure in the field of physical therapy. All Physical Therapists must hold a degree from an officially recognized program, in addition to completing their national licensure examination. PTAs are also qualified, certified professionals, although they do not have a PT license.

Do you offer programs for me once I'm better?

Yes, once you have completed our therapy sessions, your therapist will review and create a home exercise program to make sure that you’ll maintain your current level of function. You can also continue your fitness journey with our performance team with one on one personal training sessions.
